Saying the blessing for your meal...

I recently met a child who when we were out eating at a restaurant and the family got ready to say a prayer for the meal, they ask the little girl that was a guest of them that day if she would like to say the blessing and she said NO and placed her hands up by her face and then said to the mom "I don't know a blessing"

The mom said to her "you don't know the prayer God is great, God is good.......etc. etc.

The little girl said NO....and looked sadden...scared...frightened as if the family thought bad of her because she didn't know it.

It's up to us to teach the children in the world how to pray even a blessing for our food.

We can't expect children to have a relationship with God if we aren't willing to spend time to teach them how to pray....because one day a prayer will lead to a prayer of asking God to be their Savior....Yeh....if we don't teach them now....how will they know.....

So are we?.....those are simple words....easy to learn...and as they get older their prayers become even better....special conversations between them and God....

Come on everyone let's do some teaching....

This is so true!! And sad, that there are those who don't teach their children to pray. . . maybe they themselves don't know that it is just like talking and listening to a friend.

This post also hits a nerve. Actually it is one of my biggest pet peeves. . . I get SOOO frustrated when people blame our problems on the fact that prayer has been taken out of schools. If WE were teaching our children how to pray in the morning, at meals, during playtime, while we work or are on vacation, when we are sick and well, and at night then HOW?! in the world do they think prayer would not be in schools. . . I just don't get it. We gotta stop blaming our problems on others and start looking at ourselves.

Well. . . didn't mean to rant, but I did. . . I'm just sayin'. . . . . . . . . .

Love ya Beverly!!!

i'm just wondering, do you think it's also important to instill fear and terror in little children by teaching them the doctrine of "hell"? do you think it's important that many of these impressionable children will carry this irrational fear around with them for the rest of their lives, irrevocably altering their behavior and destroying their peace of mind?

To Brian:
Yes we need to be teaching our childrn about hell. It's a real place that one day people will live in if they don't know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. It's not about fear, its about truth. If we don't teach them the truth how will they know what decision they need to make in life, and how in the world is teaching them about heaven and hell from God's Word is that destroying their peace of mind. The day they accept Jesus they will not only have peace of mind but also peace of heart, because they will KNOW where they will live when they die (with the Lord) in heaven, not in Hell with Satan.
What more could we want for our children, and what more would they want for theirself. Children are impressionable and that's why we need to teach them now what is right (God's Word) so they don't travel the wrong roads in life.

Curious do you know God as your Savior?

I would like to say thank you to anonymous for her comment to Brian...We do believe the Holy Word Of GOD...Simple....GOD said it, I believe it and that settles it for me.....Praise the LORD for his mercy and Grace, because his love is never ending... Thank You Jesus....By the way "Do you know Jesus as your personal Saviour"?

ok, looks like my words are wasted on you then...if you aren't willing to examine your own beliefs, then it's curtains.
no, i don't believe in any god, and to tell you the truth, i'm VERY relieved that this "yahweh" character is logically impossible, because he's easily the most evil character in fiction.
it's interesting that you say "god says so, therefore i believe it"...seems kind of circular...technically, a "petitio principii" fallacy, inserting the conclusion into your premises.
i would ask you to demonstrate that this "hell" exists, using a logical argument(using 1 peter 3:15 as my justification for such a request), but i'm afraid, based on the responses you've already given, that it would be an exercise in futility.
also, i would be interested to know why you think coercion is an appropriate method for teaching good behavior, and why infinite punishment is justified for finite crimes; also, i would like you to provide some justification for why some things are even considered "crimes", such as working on the "sabbath".
(i'll give you a hint: i won't accept "might makes right" as a justification) ;)
peace,

Brian,
Read the book of Revelation and you can read all about Hell. You can also read about heaven, both places are real and one of which you will choose to live by the choice you make. Not sure why you are taking this blog so far out of the context it was written about.

you stated in your prior comment that you don't believe in God, well you will one day bow your knee (God's word speaks that too), and if you never accept Him you will one day beg for one drop of water on your tongue when you are in hell.

All these things I speak are in God's inherent, infallible Word called the Holy Bible.

If you would just read it all and not just take verses out to make what you want out of them, maybe you could believe.

One prayer is all it takes to accept Him and if we teach children to pray when they are young then one day they will say that most important prayer they will ever speak, to ask God to be their Lord and Savior.

I will pray for you Brian that God would remove the scales from your eyes and open your heart to see Him!

In His Love,

the book of revelation is a disgusting text, obviously written by a lunatic with severe psychological problems.
anyway, from what i can see, you condone torture.
let me ask you this: would you grab somebody's hand and hold it to a red-hot stove? would you burn somebody with a red-hot poker? can you imagine how much hate would be necessary to commit even those simple acts of torture? do you believe in a "god" who would inflict infinitely worse tortures for an infinite amount of time? what "crimes" do you think warrant such punishment?
here's another hypothetical situation: i sincerely hope you don't have children, but if you do, would you construct a torture chamber in your basement? would you send your children there if they didn't love you? would you listen to the screams of your children with a hard heart? a joyous heart? what crimes would your children need to commit for you to inflict ANY amount of suffering on them? what about INFINITE suffering?
i don't know you very well, but i can already see some VERY despicable character traits in you. you don't know me at all, except for the fact that i don't believe in your god, and i disapprove of torture. and from whatever tiny little facts you've been able to determine about me, you've decided that i deserve to be horribly tortured for all eternity, and you even seem to take delight in watching me suffer from your comfortable place in heaven, licking the boots of that sadistic maniac you believe in.
i don't have any god to pray to, but i sincerely hope, deep in my heart, that people like you will carefully examine your beliefs. i'm not asking you to abandon your faith; i'm simply hoping that you will embrace your humanity, and stop celebrating the horrors cooked up by some iron-age goat herders...it seems to me that, IF the universe has an intelligent creator, those primitive barbarians were WRONG about him/her/it/them. i hope you realize that someday...or even if you don't, i hope you will learn something about morality and ethics. i REALLY hope so...i don't think there's anything else i can say to you about that... :/
peace,
